Dear dance enthusiast,

Here's an update regarding our dance schedule with information through the
end of July. If you'd like to cut to the chase, scroll down to our schedule
info at the bottom of this message.

We had a lovely Contra Prom on May 20. We are deeply grateful to Sarah
Ziegler and many of her friends for creating and continuing to support this
unique and delightful event.

Don't miss the Hommage Quebecois Reunion. Rich Sobel and Margaret Mathews,
musicians who were once local favorites at our dance, have scattered to very
different locations: Rich to British Columbia and Margaret to North
Carolina. Along with Peter Blue they used to play as the band "Hommage
Quebecois." Now the three of them are reassembling for one weekend to make
music like they used to -- a rare chance (perhaps an *only* chance) to hear
these fine musicians together again. Hommage Quebecois will also be playing
in Rochester and Ithaca in order to, ahem, practice up for our dance on
Saturday night.  ;-)  You may want to catch them all three nights!

We are not offering a dance on the fourth weekend of June, because many of
us go instead to Altamont, NY to the Old Songs Festival of Traditional Music
and Dance. You can catch lots of great folk music and dance there. If you
are interested in contra dancing, the callers there this year are David
Kaynor and Syracuse's own David Smukler, and the contra dance bands are the
Greenfield Dance Band and The Zillionaires.

We also want to draw the attention of all of you callers and aspiring
callers to our open microphone dance on July 7th. Come take this opportunity
to lead us in a dance!
